Institute Profile: Indian Institute of Technology Madras is one among the foremost institutes of national importance in higher technological education, basic and applied research. In 1956, the German Government offered technical assistance for establishing an institute of higher education in engineering in India. The first Indo-German agreement in Bonn, West Germany for the establishment of the Indian Institute of Technology at Madras was signed in 1959. The Institute was formally inaugurated in 1959 by Prof. Humayun Kabir, Union Minister for Scientific Research and Cultural Affairs. The IIT system has sixteen Institutes of Technology. The first of these to be instituted are at Kharagpur (estb. 1951), Mumbai (estb. 1958), Chennai (estb. 1959), Kanpur (estb. 1959), Delhi (estb. 1961), Guwahati (estb. 1994) and Roorkee (estb. 1847, joined IITs in 2001).

Essential Qualifications: 
  • Principal Project Officer- PhD (Civil /Coastal/Ocean Engg/Oceanography/related discipline).
  • Project Officer- M.Tech / M.E (Civil/Ocean Engg). 7.0 CGPA with B.Tech /BE (Civil /Mechanical related discipline 7.0 CGPA and above with a minimum of two years experience in Coastal field monitoring or related studies).
  • Project Associate- B.Tech / BE(Civil /Coastal/ Ocean Engg. /Physical oceanography / any other relevant discipline with 7.0 CGPA and above)
Experience: 
  • Principal Project Officer-Seven years of coastal field monitoring is essential. Less Experienced applications may be considered for the position of Senior Scientists.
  • Project OfficerCandidates with experience in Coastal field monitoring will be given preference.
  • Project Associate-Coastal field monitoring / data analysis experience is preferred and higher initial pay will be fixed for relevant experienced candidates.
Desirable: Candidates should have an interest in working in the field work for setting up the Coastal Monitoring station. Exposure to basics of wave hydrodynamics and Coastal Engineering / Computer skills / Physical model testing is preferred. Two years of working experience in relevant discipline of ocean /coastal engineering are preferred.

Emoluments:
  • Principal Project Officer- On consolidated salary starting from Rs.38,500/-p.m.to Rs.1,50,000/-p.m.
  • Project Officer- On consolidated salary starting from Rs.22,000/-p.m. to Rs.60,000/-p.m.
  • Project Associate- On consolidated salary starting from Rs.16,500/-p.m.to Rs.40,000/-p.m
